Robinson Healthcare Supports the Eve Appeal

Robinson Healthcare Ltd, the UK’s leading manufacturer of single-use surgical instruments, is proud to announce that it is supporting The Eve Appeal – the gynaecology cancer research fund – through the sale of every box of the company’s Instraspec unbreakable single use vaginal speculums.

In the UK alone 18,000 women are diagnosed and 7,500 die each year from gynaecological cancers. Despite these grim statistics, gynaecological cancers are neither a well profiled nor a well-funded cause. The Eve Appeal is a registered charity launched in 2005 and is the UK’s only national gynaecological cancer research charity. The charity’s mission is to raise funds for world-class research and to save lives from these diseases. Much of this research is carried out at the Department of Women's Cancer based at University College London (UCL).

As a manufacturer of single use instruments, many of which are used during gynaecological procedures and examinations, Robinson Healthcare has committed its support to The Eve Appeal through the sale of Instraspec unbreakable vaginal speculums. From 1st October 2012, every time a customer purchases a box of 25 Instraspec speculums, Robinson Healthcare will donate 15p to the Eve Appeal.

Commenting on the new initiative, Leigh Thomasson, Robinson Healthcare’s Managing Director said, “The Eve Appeal is supporting vital research into treating five, under publicised gynaecological cancers. We feel privileged to be able to contribute towards this valuable work by way of a donation every time our customers purchase Instraspec speculums.” Instraspec has quickly become the brand of choice for many clinicians since its introduction in 2010.

Instraspec is manufactured from an advanced polymer that is unbreakable in normal use, offering patients and clinicians complete peace of mind, unlike most plastic speculums that are made from styrene, which is more brittle and therefore may break or shatter when stressed. The speculum is crystal clear for maximum visibility and has a smooth, rounded design that also reduces the danger of skin trapping, for improved patient comfort.
